An ailing hospital was turned around by Lady Exec through systems and discipline

A large hospital in a central business district was rescued by a giant conglomorate. To turn this hospital the chairman recalled a retired lady SVP from the telco mainstream.  The experience of the lady was in IT, consumer banking, and quality (six sigma), process improvement.  She is a non MD

To her horrors she found out the following:

l.  No po system for purchases

2.  Non existent record keeping;

3.  No uniform system of pricing, discount;

4.  No cash and inventory control

Everything was in disarray;  no discipline in everything.

Thus the hospital was bleeding to death;  the doctors in the er, the surgeons did not know how to stop the bleeding;   homeostats and clamps wont do.

A non md had to step in to stop the bleeding.  How did she do it? Can we do this too?
