Proper use of Social Media

The social media has served both and good means through all the years.  Relatives and friends have been reunited though FB, many businesses accelerated their growth and progress.  It is very easy to share events and knowledge with friends and relatives, and public in an instant.

The downside, is that terrorists have made recruitment and radicalizing many new adherents and apostles through out the world fast.  Not only has social media hastened spread of good news and good deeds but bad things as fast.

Thus we should stick to using FB and the rest of social media for positive and constructive means.

I have seen staff, still with us, and all ready out of the company who through their own doing sour graped, or expressed their emotions over the web, not only for the detriment of their own good selves, but the entire organization.   For them, while all ready at the gutter, they can only make themselves more misereable by confirming through this act why they deserved such tongue lashing.

It is their privilege and right, but it does not do much to improve their all ready their bad lot and worse of all be part of this new generation

Caution in use of Social Media

"Pag gusto, may paraan; pag ayaw, maraming dahilan " BIDDA: " believe, inspire, dream, do, achieve"

Memorandum:

To      :   All Staff

Subject :   Use of social media

Goal:

1.  To use the social media to promote sales and revenue;

2.  To gain more advocates and apostles for our product

Reality:

1.  FB is being abused; many staff are using FB during office hours both to promote our product and their relationships

2. FB and other social media are being used to get even, criticize, provoke anger and jealousy in other people who could be future partners or associate later on.

WTDN advice:

1.  Please limit your social media use to being positive, of promoting our products and goodwill;

2   During working hours and while using company computers/FFE, let us use pages and not personal accounts

3.  To stop using this to harasss, ridicule, reprimand employees, former employees, officers colleague or for spreading unfounded information, hearsay, chismis, to defame the integrity/character of the individual subject of the post. Such is subject to Anti Cybercrime law, and without the waiver, the company computer is subject to seizure and lawsuits

We do not wish to see anymore employees, all ready subject of disciplinary action being posted at social media.  We will not hesitate to use the law to stop further  abuses

For this remember the Rotary 4 way test:

Prudent Use of Social Media

Memorandum

To         :   All

Subject:   Use of social media for public consumption

May we have this as guidelines/guidance for the above mentioned topic:

1.  Please limit use of skype, fb for company use only;  exposing yourself to public scrutiny may do some harm.

2.  Use the above for linking of important posts to increase awareness and and market presence.

There are some fb posts by our staff that do not reflect well  our company and our job, including our image and professionalism as the one that appeared recently for a middle management position engaged in a gambling activity.

We have to ask ourselves what purpose we have in life while we are working here and align ourselves accordingly

Bakery forced to find new location by transit project
After years of recreational baking, Jo-Ann Morlando and her daughter, Dominica Clementi, opened their own bakery business in 2004. They managed to stay in business during the recession, but their success was threatened by a plan to expand light-rail service in Charlotte, N.C. Their property was in the way and the women were forced to move. Despite the frustrations and challenges they faced, they have found a new location and are once again open for business. "Consider where your target audience is and what you're selling," she recommends. Providing informative content and posting on a regular basis can also do a lot to boost your online marketing results, she writes. Intuit Small Business Blog (6/24)

Study: Many young consumers depend on social media to find content
Large percentages of younger Internet users now rely on social networks for discovering online content, according to a report from Forrester Research. But despite the fact the percentage of people who depend on search engines is on the decline, marketers still devote much of their attention to SEO and paid search. The report advises marketers to focus on engaging Internet users instead of simply trying to make a quick sale. Entrepreneur online (6/25)

How to show your employees you care
Instead of trying to dominate your employees, it's important to establish a work environment that emphasizes reciprocity, writes Mark Sanborn, president of Sanborn & Associates. It's also helpful to listen to what your employees have to say and show appreciation for good work. "Don't be afraid of overdoing it. You connect with people more deeply when you recognize the best in them and let them know," Sanborn writes. Entrepreneur online (6/25)

Study finds employee interest in performance-based pay
Four in 10 employees say they could be more productive if their pay was connected in some way to their companies' performance, according to a study by Kelly Services. A minority of respondents said they thought they were receiving fair compensation for their work, the study found. "Performance-based incentive plans can be a win-win situation," said Steve Armstrong, Kelly's general manager of U.S. operations. "Employees can benefit from the opportunity to work smarter and raise their earnings capacity, while employers benefit from increased productivity and a more engaged workforce." Lending has dried up for all businesses, not only small ones
Small businesses have suffered from a pullback in financing since the Great Recession. However, analysis from American Banker suggests credit tightening has been the case for companies of all sizes, not disproportionately for small ones. In fact, loans worth less than $100,000 have suffered the least, data show. "It's starting to get better, but there is still a lot of pain out there," Biz2Credit CEO Rohit Arora said. Ancient Egyptian statue moves in mysterious ways
A small Egyptian funereal statue dating to 1800 B.C. has been turning heads at a British museum ever since people noticed that it was slowly spinning to turn its back on visitors. A time-lapse video reveals that the statue slowly turns 180 degrees from guests during the day but remains still at night. The likely explanation is a combination of a force called "vibrational stick-slip friction" and the statue's weight balance, says scientist Paul Doherty.
