How many times have we heard about "Be careful of your words ---> action -->action --> habits  --> character --> destiny.  Everything starts with thought that lead to words.  Therefore you must adopt certain words that are more likely to make you a success.

Thus choose words that are positive and that create action and solutions.


Problems continue and never end


Thus instead of stating problems, you choose:

1.  situation

2.  challenge.

3.  opportunities (benefits)

Do not put AWK without FIX

There was this editor,  working for  Kerry Patterson, a former professor, who was given the task of editing the work of the professor.  One time there was this handwritten script of Kerry, and the editor much to his dismay, could not decipher a line.   So he placed the editor's note:  AWK

When the good professor saw the editor's note, he said:  " Dont ever give an A-W-K without a F-I-X. "  The editor worked harder and fixed the sentences that were awkward.

How many times do we see marketing simply throw questions after questions to 3ffb, unmindful of the fact that they must think of the answers before they call, because that is the only we way we learn and grow - by thinking of solutions ;   or engineer making us solve the problems that they are supposed to think solutions for

What are the lessons here:

1.  Do not stop at problems, always come to your boss with a solution/option

2.  Have relevant facts/data to back your options/solution;

3.  Practice critical thinking:

     Ask why many times;

     Question the assumption/hypothesis.

     Practice catalytic questioning.

We can be more productive and multiply our talents and the organization if we practice this.

We do not view problems only;  we solve them and make things happen. <not merely watching things happen or do not bother to know what is happening

Turning problems into solutions - be an expert in what is right

If you are problem or excuses focussed, you can not move forward.

Be solution focussed rather than problem focussed.

Problem oriented -- " Why did you not meet the target"  This starts a blame game and acrimonious conversation

Solution oriented -- "You sold 3; what did you do right?  Focus on what you are doing right?

Be an expert in what is right, rather than what is wrong.  (You still need to find the causes though but you need to focus in correcting what is wrong or removing the restraining forces)

Focus on your strength on what you do.
