 How to boost customer referrals

Customer referrals really rock as a cost-effective way to gain new business and regain old customers. But how do you generate more referrals…higher quality referrals? And how can you squeeze more mileage out of the referrals that you’ve got?
The folks who run my fitness club are masters at referral marketing. They’re constantly running a promotion for referring new members with discounts, free training or free stuff. Whether I’m walking in the door, opening my mail or looking online, I’m barraged with signs, banners, stickers and mailers encouraging referrals with free passes, discounts, goodies and even cash.
We all know the magic of referrals, which offer instant credibility. So why don’t more small business owners use referrals effectively? Mainly because it’s harder than it looks. For one thing, referrals come in different forms and flavors. If someone merely provides you a name and email address, that’s low-grade referral. But if a customer actively talks up your product or service, sets up a meeting or brings the prospect in the door, that’s a Grade A referral.
At www.business.com we see big companies taking customer referrals very seriously. Many have turned it into a science of modeling, calculating and tracking a Net Promoter Score (NPS). At its most basic, the NPS attempts to measure how likely it is that a customer would recommend a business, product or service to a friend or colleague.
“Promoters” are your most loyally enthusiastic customers – the regulars who also refer others to help fuel your business growth. “Passives” are happy, but not enthusiastic and are easily attracted to a better deal elsewhere. “Detractors” are unhappy customers who can hurt your sales with negative word-of-mouth. The NPS is determined by taking the percentage of customers who are promoters and subtracting the percentage who are detractors. An equal amount of each gets you an NPS of zero.
Here are seven steps to getting more and better referrals, and raising your net promoter score:
Step 1 – Create a referral-generation plan: Referrals are not automatic. Some “just happen,” but most occur because you do something to trigger it. Some business owners assume that a great product or terrific customer service will generate referrals by default. Not so. You have to learn to ask, and make sure employees are on board as well. Most customers are open to being asked for referrals. Some even appreciate the opportunity to tell friends, family and associates about something good they’ve discovered.
Referral tip: The worst time to ask for a referral is at the cash register or when you present a bill. Look for opportunities earlier or later in the process when customers are more receptive.
Step 2 – Provide support: Don’t ask customers to recommend you to others without offering them some backup. It can be as simple as a supply of your business cards, or a link to a special page on your website. Or it could be a brochure, your latest newsletter or some other type of printed material that describes what you do and can reinforce the referral.

How Effective is Your Sales Process?

It is important to understand that as we have discussed earlier, that the goal of  every enterprise is to
improve the process.  In sales that would be:

           1. How to increase the number of prospect
           2.  How to increase the success  rate of conversion from prospect to buyer from
                say 1% to say 20%

It takes some doing to find the right process and technique on how to be more efficient in the sales
process.  You need to have a system to run a jet plane autopilot.  And sometimes in landing situation
the autopilot may go into error and crash the plane

How To Be A GREAT Marketer

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Eben Pagan <help@ebenpagan.com>

Subject: How To Be A GREAT Marketer
To: Jorge <jorgeus.george@gmail.com>

What's the key to becoming a great marketer, and getting a growing stream of new customers to buy your products and services?

I think it takes three things:

1) Cutting Through Noise & Inspiring Action

Great marketing isn't optional anymore.

There's just too much noise in the world, and too many things to distract us.

If you don't know how to grab attention and move people to action, then no one is going to show up to buy your products and services.

To cut through the noise, you must know how to combine WORDS with DESIGN, in a way that captures attention.

To inspire someone to take action - and to pay you for your product - you must touch them on both the emotional level AND the logical level.

Most marketing is "logic marketing" - trying to convince people with reason. This almost never works (unless you're selling scientific measurement equipment to computer geeks).

The masters of marketing connect with people on an emotional level first - THEN they back up their claims with logic.

Ask yourself:

>What are the strongest EMOTIONS that my prospective customers are feeling right now?

>How can I tap into the emotions that they are already feeling - and connect with them on a human level?

>How can I put the result that my product or service delivers into emotional, human terms that will motivate my customer to take action and buy from me?

2) The Psychology Of Branding

Most people think that branding is about trying to get people to "remember you" or to "remember your name."

It's not.

Branding is about getting people to CONNECT your brand name with the result that they want.

Just remembering your name isn't enough.

Big companies spend millions to get people to remember their brand name - only to learn later that they remember it, but don't remember what the product was or what it does.

You don't want that to happen to you...

One of my favorite branding examples of all time was FedEx's original "unique selling proposition." It was...

"When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight."

There's no way to misunderstand the specific result that this product delivers. And it amps up the human dimension: "absolutely, positively."

3) Using Technology To Multiply Your Efforts

Early on in my business, I learned that having my virtual assistant send out an email to every customer who purchased - asking them if they would like to buy another product - resulted in many of them actually buying more from me.

So what did I do?

I automated the process. I used a simple auto-responder system to follow up with a series of emails to every person who purchased my products - asking them if they would like to buy more.

There are many ways to automate the process of building relationships with customers - and it's critical that you use them if you want to grow your business.

Inside of my new Accelerate training program, we're going to invest a FULL DAY on learning advanced marketing psychology and persuasion tools to sell more of your products.

And the best part about it is that we'll do it in a way that you feel great about - not in a way that makes you feel ashamed.

Many of the top marketers I know in the world will be in the room, and I highly recommend that you attend to meet and learn from them.

At Accelerate, you'll learn how to be a GREAT marketer - and how to consistently grow your business and your profit.

All the details are here - make sure you get your application in while we are still in our early registration week, and while we are still offering 50% off the normal ticket price:
