In the recent conversation with the newly minted staff of LUMP
I was disheartened by the very negative outlook of the participants
in the telecom. We hired them to influence the old discouraged
people in the business. But their answer suggests that we might
as well bury the business with the dead because:
l. We can not fight the competition;
2. The buyers are difficult to understand please;
3. Everything is impossible
Couple that with the crying ladies because they could not explain the
simple truth:
l. When you want something nice you have to pay for it;
2, Everybody is duty bound by a contract which every one including
the Pontius Pilates in the government must honor, including DTI
3. Everybody who flaunts power ay may "katapat"
I dislike the lack of positive attitude, the courage and attitude which
must be there after all the meetings and seminar that we have
This reflect lack of faith in leadership, in themselves?
Why cant we? We are almost 30 years in this business. I came from
Ateneo, my network are in Malacanang and DTI? Why is there a
lack of faith and obedience.
The inflatable, always - standing penguins
When we biked three weeks ago we saw this amusing toys for sale.
They were made of plastic and comes in three sizes. No matter what
happens, even if the wind blows, you push the penguin toy, it would
always come back to the standing, upright position. Why does it do
that way? How?
Because according to the vendor, there is sand inside.
What causes the penguin toy to stand is what is inside.
Just like us, we wlll stand tall, be resilient, nothing can defeat us depending
on what is within us?
Is there courage and determination?
What lies behind us, what lies before us are nothing compared to what is within us. (even if it is just sand)

"Be the best, do your best, expect the best"
Content is the king. When I graduated from college, I thought I have learned a lot. But it was not. When I was hired last 1997 by Ecobuild, Sir JUS told me the word empty your cup and it stick in my mind. I always empty my cup from the negative things so that the positive ones may have space. This thinking has helped me improved and develop my self. Let us be equipped with knowledge so that we can face any problems and adversity that may hinder our goals and objectives. According to John Calub: Adversity causes other people to breakdown but it causes other people to break the record (BREAKTHROUGH).
ReplyDeleteThe toy penguins stands on its own even strong winds and rain because there was a sand inside. The sand inside of us represents our knowledge. If we were equipped with knowledge and wisdom we will be able to stand firm in front of customers trying to intimidate and break us.

This implies us to become strong and courageous, do not be afraid or terrified because of them. Don't be discouraged it's often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock.

This post awaken us to be equipped with determination and strength so that whatever struggles we may face in life, we will remain still, standing and fighting for what we think is right. The problems that we encounter usually mold us to become a stronger person. What lies within us determine our perseverance to pursue regardless of the difficulties we encounter. It is our foundation. Having strong foundation will greatly affect us to cope up with the difficulties we face.

This post serve as an eye-opener to us here at LUMP to renew ourselves to have a strong determination and courage to combat objections/rejections of client whoever they are.We must be guided with the knowledge imparted on us.Just like the penguin toy that no matter how strong strong the wind it blows it is still standing because of the sand inside of it.
ReplyDeleteBut on the other hand, I am happy that I encounter those problems because I felt the support of the people on our organization. And I take this opportunity to thank all of you for giving me courage at the same time mold my negotiation skills and leadership ability.

This reflection of "what causes the penguin toy to stand is what is inside." is worth to imitate in facing difficulties in our daily lives. And when facing difficult or disrespectful customers, let us remember:

The story about the standing penguins teaches us that it is what inside us that matters. If we have the courage and determination we can surpass all the challenges and difficulties that we are facing or that will come our way. We should not be discouraged by the things around and by our mistakes. We should learn from it and take it as a challenge to improve ourselves and to do better next time for us to come out with what we really want. Keep in mind that we can do it. We can achieve it. Nothing is impossible. We must learn something new everyday so that we will not be intimidated by other people. The initiative must be coming from myself. The willingness to be successful must be like my willingness to survive in the battle.
