NU52 Suggestion System at Holy Gardens BPI

SUBJECT :   nu52, SUGGESTION SYSTEM/KAIZEN

 Background: 

Kaizen is part of Hoshin system of management system in Japan ie it is better for a thousand ants working together towards a common goal, rather than the queen doing it alone.  Kaizen (please see my slides ppt on business process improvement) is the backbone of Japanese business progress.  Kaizen means continuous IMPROVEMENT.

1.  Innovation  -  innovation is creating value from existing resources. 
     What it is not:   being cute, being good looking alone, unique;  it must add value and affect the customer socially (make him/her feel good. It is not cap ex (budgeted expenditures) or existing process that are simply neglected.  Therefore, read your gp, mc, and corporate plan marketing plan before writing anything down.  Also CMO cluster head please check
    What is it: ? It is   mostly low cost improvement, and focusing on items that do not cost anything.  Therefore, they could be tweaking or mostly procedural items.

2. Submission:    Weekly.   (In Toyota, the average number of suggestion is 50 per year per employee]

3.  Who;

          1.  Submit  -   All officers and staff including 3f employees
           2.  Check  -    CMO at sbu level; cluster head (via email)
           3 .  Recommend and check for approval  - cluster head and ao

4.  Timeline:    @Sat to cmo
                       @Monday to cluster head and ao
                        @Wednesday to SMD

5.  Format:     Hard copy, arial 12 pts.  8x11 inches(or access)

 6.  Contents:

  4. Cost Benefit Analysis:  (compare output/input:  express ratio).  Specify BOM for costs, and outputs.
  5. Process:   draw process/product, location, compare before and after
  6. Timeline:  proposed schedule of implementation
  7. Beneficiaries:  who will benefit from the suggestion
  8. Benchmarking best practices:  (who are doing this already)
  9. Notation approval section

7. Prizes/ benefits
       1.  In order to be promoted, the candidate must have submitted at least 30 suggestions (whether approved or disapproved)
       2.  Prizes:
                  l.  Mere submission in the correct format complying with the deadline        -   P20.00
                  2. Approved suggestion       -     P50.00
                  3. Suggestion implemented for at least one month    P50.00
                  4. Low impact suggestion implemented for 3 months -  P200.00
                  5. High impact suggestion implemented during the year   Pl000.00 plus certificate KAIZEN AWARD

8.  Who will supervise:   cluster head and ao.   The ao will reformat #6.  There will be lot of handholding for this.

For compliance by 3rd week of June.
