Andrew Grove as the author of the book, and chief of Intel; advocated:

1.  using manufacturing techniques to increase output/productivity in other industries;

2.  to use highly leveraged activities to increase outputs of managers:    meetings, one on one, meetings, batching, one time set up

He advocated open and candid communications in  meetings which sometimes lead to shouting matches.  Candor and debate is needed to arrive at best solutions
