We discussed in the plenary opening of 1Q CMO conference the theme Song, "God is watching us"
1. We are instruments of peace.
In the scenario of the song, the Desert Storm invasion of Iraq, soldiers are instruments of peace. How come? They are at war. Soldiers go to war to attain peace. There could be no peace unless enemies terrorists are subdued.
In the office, we can not have peace unless we are able to determine which is right. Audacity is needed on the part of everyone to make his goals and ideas are known.
There is only growth coming out of conflict and debate.
2. Harmony and teamwork
We are on the same team We work as a team. We are to build a team. Our team must win. We know if we are winning if we know the score.
We can not have a meeting after meeting. Once we decide what is the course of action, we act and support the decision irrespective of disssenting minority.
"If you are not with us, then you are against us. "
Not everybody is a friend though. We must know who our enemies our and we must know how to deal with them. One is getting them off the bus. We can not have teamwork, if within your organization, your staff sleep with the enemies.
3. We are merchants:
"Marching in a common land" We have shared vision and mission, beliefs and principles
"Playing songs of hope." We are here to motivate and inspire our ourselves and other people. (This is EQ by Daniel Goleman) Sometimes, for some people, even a sliver of hope can can keep them alive.
As leaders and marketers, we market hope to everyone. OUr products mean so much to our customers. They offer value, and better lives/status/well - being" As bosses, we inspire our staff,.
We are to be self motivated. We do not need to be egged on by the CEO or the SMD. We must be self inspired to do good and be good.
It is corde - doing things even when no one is watching
Enthusiasm - " en theos" God is in us.
