AM talk at 3ffb today December 20 2013 on more spirit and resourcefulness

Minutes of the AM talk today:

Yesterday we had an executive meeting with FP, EPR, EB regarding:

1.  our mindset

2,  habits,

3. obedience and respect for the senior officers.

The 3 promised there would be reforms and changes.  The CAF was not executed well despite the inputs that went into;  it all boils down to passion attitude and execution. Today EPR was late again and all her works were delayed and it cascaded into everyone.

Our talk today covered:

1. spiritu, corde and practice

2.  we need more spirit in men;

3.  being entrepreneurial and strategic

4.  "never so few" Guns of Navaronne

1.  What do these Latin terms mean:

Spiritu  -  God is in me.  En Theos.  God has delegated you to continue the creation powers which you must use to save others, feed others, and be an answer to somebody else's prayer.  Be a blessing to others.  Use that power.  Have that joy and enthusiasm to be of service to others.

Corde  -  to do things even when no one is looking.  Do not be mouse that when the cat is away, you will play.  Live away from Paco;  do not be a limited person.  Be resourceful;  find ways.  Do not be stuck in old inefficient ways.

Practice -  Audacity, courage, to do things that have been agreed upon.  If you are on the side of good, you cant do wrong.  God will be with you. Nothing to fear

2.  We need more spirit in men

    1.  There is a big difference in how MVP and old management does business.  The others focus on size of resources and number of men.  MVP, and we should focus on the goals and results. Give me revenues and results and then I will give you cap ex budget. It is our common experience that people will ask for cap ex and op ex and deliver big fat eggs.

    2.  Focus on what you have and not what you do not have.  There are opportunities and there strengths that you have -  use them to the best of your ability.  Like 14,000 customers that sister company has and you have tapped but 300 of them.

For the disabled persons, they become better persons if they do focus on abilities rather than disability.  Most of the time we focus and ask for things that we do not have and end up being disabled.

    Be resourceful.  Find ways.

3   Be entrepreneurial!  Entrepreneurs are those who can deliver results with little or no resources, or resources he has no control of.

Be strategic.  Strategy emerges from between your ears. Your success or failure in achieving your objectives lie in between your ears.  (No sir it is not earwax of tutuli or luga)

In the book Battle of Dien Bien Phu, where the protagonist is Von Nguyen Giap, (the only Asian General who defeated and humiliated the more superior in terms of numbers and firepower) summarizes the spirit of strategy:   "No secretaries, no flags, no cars, no bands, the colonels and generals dressed like other soldiers, but VICTORY, VICTORY VICTORY.

Giap who just died, is aclaimed as one distinguished generals strategists joining the ranks of Lidell Hart, Bonaparte, Alexander the Great Hannibal.

How did Giap defeat the French at Dien Bien Phu.  France had control over the air power because they had airplanes and helicopters.  Giap had the artillery pieces dragged up the mountain piece by piece by determined cadres (farmers) reassembled them in caves.  Of course, security was a top priority.  The French must not know it and must be caught with their pants down.  During the day of fighting, the cannons rained death on the French camps and they could not do anything about this;  their planes were useless to crush the artillery because the pilots could not locate them as they were hidden by caves.

The carpet bombing, or the Napalm bomb by American B 52 bombers at Hanoi were ineffective because of the network of tunnels that Giap asked his countrymen carve out as a protection from the massive bombing.  The Americans dropped more bombs in Vietnam than in Europe and in Asia Pacific in WW 11.

The model and the mindset for most strategist is superiority of force, firepower and assets. Even Gen Scharwskopf in Desert Storm in 1991 subscribe to this.  He launched the Iraq offensive when he was sure they had 3 to 1 advantage over the Iraqis.

We admire Alexander the great, (that is why he is considered The Great). He fought against a more superior army  of Darius with only 10,000 men.  Darius had 5x that number. Alexander the Great won. and even killed Emperor Darius.

We as former detailmen of drug companies as drug pushers had to rely on our hard work and wits to sell the products of our company vs multinational drug companies who had more superior resources.  At the end of the day, we won.  The company where we used to work sell billions on just one or two products we sold:   Alaxan and Kremil S.

And now people who simply failed to monitor control and motivate and understand the product and its processes of selling are saying we lack the resources.

Be resourceful

4.  Never so few;  always outnumbered , never outfought.
Basketball games are fought by the 5 men on the court, the Jumbo jet, a Panamax container ship is run by one man.  The coach directs the fight of the team.  Just by one man.

Battles, plans are won by one by a few men.

Are you one of those few men?

Think about this.  It is time we change our mindsets, get our of our narrow and losing mindset

"We do not need more money, more men, more machines: WHAT WE NEED IS MORE SPIRIT IN MEN!

"No secretaries, no waving flags, no cars, no marching bands;  the Generals and Colonels wear the same uniform as the foot soldier, but damned it;   VICTORY VICTORY VICTORY
