Hi,
Cats are kings in every place they inhabit. And if you have a little kitty in your home you know just how true this is.
But sadly, our magnificent felines in the wild are fighting to survive and need your help.
Please make your tax-deductible donation today to help save lions, tigers, cheetahs, leopards, and other endangered big cats.
Big cats are being poached, poisoned, and pushed out of their habitat at alarming rates.
But innovative pilot conservation programs supported by National Geographic across Africa and Asia are finding new ways for big cats to survive and even thrive in our modern world.
Today, I need your help to expand these efforts so we can protect the remaining big cats and restore existing populations to healthy levels.
Can I count on your support to help save these resplendent creatures?
Because of generous past support from other animal lovers like you, we are seeing tangible successes from our early efforts:
- In northern Kenya, the Ewaso lion group had dwindled to only 10 lions. But after just three years of innovative conservation work, this group has grown to more than 40 individuals. I wish you could see the lion cubs grow and thrive.
- In Zambia, our field team found and confiscated nearly 400 illegally placed poachers' snares in just one year. This has significantly reduced the killing of lions for trinkets, folk "remedies," and bushmeat.
- In the Kalahari, our researchers are tracking some 350 remaining cheetahs in that region to complete one of the largest studies undertaken on the fastest land animal. New technology, including DNA sampling, enables us to develop new conservation techniques specifically tailored to cheetahs.
- From Tanzania to Nepal, we have helped erect more than 500 sustainable livestock corrals to protect farmers' herds from big cats, which have significantly reduced retaliatory killings.
- Certain poisons used to kill lions are no longer for sale in Kenya because of our conservation work.
But we need to do much more. And that's why I am asking for your support. Your generous gift today of any size will make a real difference for lions and other big cats.
Our work with big cats is of the scope to have global impact and our successes to date definitively demonstrate that we don't have to watch these magnificent cats dwindle away. We can save these feline kings.
Please don't delay, do what you can to help now.
Thank you for becoming our partner in this critical work. I look forward to sharing good news with you in upcoming months.
Sincerely,
Nancy Rehman
Vice President, Development
P.S. With your help today, lions, tigers, cheetahs, and other big cats will survive and continue to be kings of the wild. Please make your generous tax-deductible contribution online now.
Thank you.
