What is the Pareto Principle? How do you apply this to be more effective and productive? Pareto principle is the 20:80 rule. 20% of the events, account for the 80 % of the results; 80% account for the 20% of results. Only 20% of your staff sell 80% of the total sales. This was the result of the worl of Italian economist and sociologist Vilfredo Pareto, known for his application of math to economic policy. Pareto principle is a time management concept and it was published in Cours d'economic politique (1896-1897)
It is one of the most powerful things you can apply for personal productivity
l. Do more of certain things (the high value activity)
2. Do less of certain things (low value activity)
3. Start doing you are now doing (on high value activity)
4. Stop doing the low value activity and delegate more this.
If you earn $40.00/per hour in your current job (divide your annual income by 2,000 - number of hours in a working year); then you will not continue doing the menial work of doing messengerial or delivery work. You would rather have a $10.00 courier do the work for you. Please read pp 67 - 72 of the book
